Pittsburg, Texas hosts several special events throughout the year that provides entertainment for the whole family. In addition, many of the other historic towns of the Piney Woods region of East Texas hold exciting special events, as well.

ChickFest
The third Saturday in September is a time for celebrating Pittsburg’s heritage. The downtown area is alive with booths, games, street dancing, and good food. Call the Chamber of Commerce for more information (903) 856-3442.

"Ride with the Eagles" Bike Rally
This is one of the most scenic cycling courses in the state. On the third Saturday in April, cyclists from several states participate in a bike rally with routes of approximately 11, 22, 45, and 65 miles through the wooded rolling hills and wildflowers of Northeast Texas. The rally benefits the arts at Northeast Texas Community College. Call the college for more information (903) 572-3644.

Kid's Fishing Day
The City of Pittsburg and Texas Parks and Wildlife sponsor this annual fishing event just for kids. The City Park Pond on Texas Street is stocked with enough winter trout to provide hours of fishing fun. Kid's Fishing Day is usually held the last Saturday in February and is open to children age 16 and under. To register call City Hall at 856-3621.

Pittsburg Rodeo
This great family event is held every year in May on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of Mother's Day weekend.

Christmas Tour of Homes
On the first Sunday in December, four homes in Pittsburg that are “decked out for the holidays” are on display. The Pittsburg-Camp County Arts Council sponsors the tour each year. Call (903) 856-6203 or 856-7861 for information.

The city of Longview hosts AlleyFest during the first weekend in June. The downtown streets fill with people of all ages for the best art, music, sports and food. For more information, please call 903-753-3281.

The historic town of Nacogdoches is the site of an annual Texas BBQ competition called the Do Dat Barbecue. This annual cooking event benefits local charities and scholarships. It is usually held in September at the Nacogdoches Exposition Center, West Loop 224.

The Sandyland Bluegrass Reunion is a semi-annual music festival also held in the town of Nacogdoches.
